- Abstract
CCS Hydropower Station is the world’s largest impulse hydropower station with the total installed capacity. As the jet speed of impulse turbine is fast, it is sensitive to the doped particles in the high-speed and high-pressure water flow, which will lead to the abrasion of important parts such as nozzle or bucket and reduce the service life of the equipment. In view of the sediment problem in this project, the first consideration was to settle the sediment in the water source reservoir. That is to say, the intake complex was arranged at the lower reaches of the Coca River where the river is wide, so as to reduce the sediment content in the diversion reach. Secondly, the water intake was arranged on the right bank of the river and next to the water intake was arranged the sand sluice gate to ensure the water intake was clear in front of the water intake and minimize the sediment content. The grit chamber was arranged after the sand-sluice and the grit chamber was fully settled after the water was taken. Finally, a compensation reservoir was set at the end of the tunnel to further reduce the sediment content.
