- Abstract
Currently, International Snoezelen Association Japan (ISNA-Japan) is in the process of establishing a Snoezelen qualification system. Dr. Anezaki, the director of ISNA-Japan was qualified as one of the few international Snoezelen specialists in Japan while inviting Dr. Krista Mertens several times since 2003. It has been almost 30 years since Snoezelen was introduced to Japan in the early 1990s. However, it was introduced into welfare institutions as part of the recreational activity and therefore the momentum for the qualification systemization has not been increased. Globally, it can qualify for Snoezelen in more than about six countries including the Netherlands, Germany, and South Korea. The author also obtained a research budget in the last year and then attended a Snoezelen instructor certification seminar at ISNA-Swiss in Grandson, Switzerland. Based on the above, I consider the Snoezelen qualification system unique to Japan.
