- Abstract
Russia has forgiven Guinea-Bissau's debt of $26.7 million, with an additional $960,000 to be restructured. The debt includes past Soviet obligations and rental fees for the embassy in Moscow. In return, Guinea-Bissau commits to using the $960,000 to finance projects that improve access to vital resources for its population. Additionally, Russian companies will have access to competitive selection processes on equal terms. In other news, the French Navy seized 10,693 kg of cocaine, worth nearly €695 million, from a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Guinea. Lastly, Kenya and Guinea-Bissau have agreed to expedite a joint commission of cooperation to enhance their ties in various areas, including trade.
