- Abstract
The research aimed to set a vision for the development of educational preparation for student teachers in the Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University, to keep up with fourth-generation universities. Through a conceptual framework that reflects the concept of fourth-generation universities, their characteristics, objectives, basic functions, as well as understanding the goals and justifications for developing educational preparation for student teachers to keep pace with fourth-generation universities. The research used the descriptive method and relied on the questionnaire as a tool for data collection, as it included five main axes: developing the goals of educational preparation for student teachers in the Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University, developing the performance of faculty members in educational preparation programs, developing curricula, student activities and technological means, developing strategies and teaching methods of educational preparation programs, and developing a system for evaluating student teachers in educational preparation programs; The questionnaire was applied to a sample of (246) faculty members in the Faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Upper Egypt and Upper Egypt. The research indicated that the sample agreed with a (very high) degree on all axes of the questionnaire, as the total mean of the questionnaire was (4.68) with a percentage of (93.6%). The responses of the sample on the sub-axes came in a (very high) degree. The research suggested a vision that includes a set of necessary mechanisms and procedures to develop the educational preparation of student teachers in the faculties of Education at Al-Azhar University, to keep pace with fourthgeneration universities.
