- Abstract
The high productivity of tomato depends on yield components such as mass and number of fruits, which are generally influenced by the number of stems and bunches per plant. In this sense, the objective of this study was to identify the conduction system (number of stems and bunches) that allows to obtain greater productivity of marketable fruits in the mesoregion of Alto Solimões, Amazonas. For this purpose, an experiment was carried out in a protected environment, with Isla 261 cultivar, in a completely randomized design with six replicates. The treatments were the arranged of stems numbers per plant (one to four) and number of bunches per stem (one to three). It was observed that the plants with three bunches, independently of the number of stems and with two bunches with two, three and four stems, showed precocity in fruit production. The highest values of mass, diameter and average length of fruits were found in plants with one stem and one or two bunches per stem. However, the treatment with four stems and three bunches per stem provided higher productivity, 681.25 g per plant, under the edaphoclimatic conditions of cultivation.
