- Abstract
OBJECTIVE: to identify determining factors of Burnout Syndrome in nurses working in the Intensive Care Units, based on the researched scientific production and to discuss the findings in the light of the relevant literature. METHOD: This is an Integrative Review, which systematizes research results and the evidence on the topic of study. The searches was accomplish from October till December 2019. The descriptors used were generated from the list of Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) submitted to the Scielo, SCOPUS, LILACS, CINAHL, MedCaribe, BDEnf, Science Direct and Medline databases. It is noteworthy that the checklist recommendations with 27 items of the Statement for Reporting Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes of Studie (PRISMA) and the PICO strategy were followed. RESULTS: Through the research, 3038 records were found. Of these, titles and abstracts were read, in accordance with the inclusion and exclusion requirements, and articles were selected for analysis. Only 13 articles were characterized and summarized for analysis and descriptive approach. The main language for the dissemination of these manuscripts was English, followed by English and Spanish. CONCLUSION: Through the results, the heterogeneity of data in relation to BS is evidenced by investigating the same determinants as the cultural and political aspects of the country vary. However, there were some frequently investigated factors that determine the disease, as them: sleep patterns, other mental disorders, human / material resources, workload, coping with death and human suffering, other employment relationships, age and professional experience, interpersonal relationships and technical-scientific complexity of the Intensive Care Units.
