- Abstract
The article discusses Roman statesman, lawyer, scholar and writer Marcus Tullius Cicero's "Philippicae." It focuses on the title of the collection of 14 speeches against Roman politician and general Mark Antony, which links Cicero's name to the Macedonian king Philip II, son of Amyntas, but was never mentioned in the speeches. The title as an allusion to the famous speeches of Demosthenes, Greek statesman and orator of ancient Athens, is explored.
