- Abstract
The article focuses on the struggles among religious communities of Protestants and Catholics in France during the Reformation in the 16th century. The author mentions that the religious schism forced a greater separation between church and state and led to the creation of a secular state in France. The article also discusses religious boundaries between the Protestants and Catholics coexistence between the different confessions, and the work of historians like Nathalie Zemon Davis, John Bossy, and Suzanne Desan.
