- Title
We Are All on Native Land: Transforming Faculty Searches with Indigenous Methods.
- Authors
Thompson, Becky
- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a search for a tenure-track faculty member specializing in Native American studies at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS). Details on the search committee's methodology, which incorporated Indigenous methods and worldviews such as valuing elders and women and emphasizing community networking, are presented. It is suggested that in order to successfully diversify university faculty, committees must diverge from normative search conventions.
