- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of virtual solutions, mobile and social media, and information videos by the National Highway Institute (NHI) to enhance its traditional training for the transportation workforce. It says that the tools help the institute in solving issues like travel restrictions and time constraints, and reach a wider audience as well. It mentions that NHI develops the Virtual Foundation Expo and the Virtual Bridge Inspection computer-based program to connect participants with 20 industry experts and provide students with cost- and time-effective option for physical field trips respectively. It adds that the FHWA Pavement Preservation Virtual Checklists mobile application is launched to give mobile teams the information they need.
