- Abstract
The article presents a study done in 2011 at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka, Nigeria which looks at socio-economic and demographic factors that influence usage of information and communication technology for scholarly communication at universities in Nigeria. It focuses on the lack of funding for research, for acquiring library materials, and for conferences, and states that academics are instead using information and communication technology (ICT) to share knowledge. It also discusses academics' rank, years of experience, and gender as factors which influence usage.
