The article discusses the 50th anniversary celebration of the Rhode Island Hospital Ophthalmology Residency program which created for the ophthalmology education of the community-based physicians. It highlights the completion of the resident education and supervision for the ophthalmologists. It also stresses the development of laser therapy as initial therapy to treat open-angle glaucoma.
