- Abstract
Identify associated associates for the development of injuries or skin changes in the elderly in perioperative care. Descriptive study with hospitalized elderly (n = 30), in the Federal District. Sociodemographic data, health and surgery, physical examination of the skin and functional capacity were obtained. The data were prepared using descriptive and analytical statistics. The mean age was 69.63 years (± 7.53), and the hospital stay was 4 days (± 4.91). Most (53.33%) were hospitalized for cancer surgery, 86.67% were completely independent for self-care. The main changes in the skin were hematoma / ecchymosis 13.30% and erythema 10.00%. Elderly people over 71.92 (± 8.09), developed more situations in relation to the younger elderly, even the independent ones developed some altered skin change. Care with the integrity of the skin in elderly people in a surgical situation should be carried out individually, with special attention to factors that aggravate the recovery process.
