- Abstract
This work was performed aiming to evaluate the growth of Commelina beghalensis from stem sections under the influence of the number of nodes and depth of burial. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse and installing following a 3x3 factorial design, with seedlings with 1, 2, 3 nodes in planting depths of 1, 5 and 10 cm, with 4 replicates and 3 seedlings per plot. At the end of the experiment, the fresh matter of aerial part (FMAP) and the root (FMR), the shoot length of aerial part (SLAP) and the dry matter of aerial part (DMAP) and the root (DMR) was evaluated. The increase in depth restricted the emergence of seedlings, being evidenced by values of SLAP, FMAP, and DMAP. Thus, the number of nodes by propagating material influenced the development of seedlings of Commelina beghalensis, and this knowledge can be used for proper mechanical control of the pest.
