The article provides information on dry mouth, also known as xerostomia, which is a condition of having insufficient saliva to keep the mouth wet. It states that the condition is due to the malfunction of glands that produce saliva. It highlights the significant roles of saliva in speech, taste, chewing and on the overall nutrition of every individual. It also outlines the ways on how to treat dry mouth including the use of drugs to increase the flow of saliva, keeping the mouth moist and by stimulating its flow.
