- Abstract
Organisms establish different interactions. In the case of beetles and pseudoescorpions it is phoresy, which consists in the transportation of the latter by the former. In this paper the relationship between Lustrochernes grossus and Parachelifer scabriculus with the click beetle Chalcolepidius approximatus is described. We examined 87 specimens of C. approximatus from the collections of the Museum of Zoology Alfonso L. Herrera of Facultad de Ciencias and Colección Nacional de Insectos, Instituto de Biología, both from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. The arachnids were processed using Hoff's technique, modified following Wirth and Marston. We found 18 pseudoscorpions under the elytra of 7 beetles, 10 of L. grossus fron Morelos, Jalisco and Guerrero, and 8 of P. scabriculus from Morelos only. The presence of pseudoscorpions on the click beetle is because both live under the bark of trees and probably the relationship was established there. This is the first record of P. scabriculus associated with Mexican click beetles and the first one of L. grossus with C. approximatus in Morelos and Guerrero.
