In this article the author offers observations on the aesthetics of atrocities. Particular focus is given to the heightened media attention that images of human tragedy receive in comparison to environmental atrocities. Images of artwork conveying environmental tragedy are provided including "BP Logo," by Greenpeace and "Oxford Tire Pile #2, Westley, California," by Edward Burtynsky.
