- Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the knowledge of dental students on antibiotic prescription of amoxicillin and clindamycin. Materials and Methods: A total of 100 participants were selected from undergraduate students. The questions were designed in closed-ended questions. The survey was conducted through an online survey using Google forms. Results: As per the percentage of the questionnaire answered by the majority of the participants, more than half of the respondents prescribed amoxicillin. In terms of conditions in where antibiotic should be prescribed, all participants prescribed for dental extractions. Conclusion: Knowledge related to antibiotic prescription was low. Although the majority of participants were aware of the antibiotic resistance, indiscriminate prescription of antibiotics was found indicating a need for updating regarding appropriate antibiotic use through Continuing Dental Education programs.
