- Title
Ethical Issues in the Design of Patient Information Sheets for Research Purposes.
- Authors
Wells, Frank
- Abstract
The author focuses on ethical issues in the design of patient information sheets for studies. He stresses that such sheets are important and its readability can be obtained by presenting a draft to patients. He notes that the experiences of the researchers suggest that the consent process based on the sheet for one nation often leads to confusion in another country. He contends that informed consent can only be conclusive if patients know the experimental nature of the research in which they are being asked to participate.
