- Abstract
The article talks about the large trading boat called bateau, owned by a merchant named Sarpy, which was set from Arkansas Post to Illinois. The bateau's skipper was sailor William Fourgnac. It states that Sarpy had hired two boatmen Jean le Basque and le nommé Charlot, whose father was referred as Sieur Barthélémy, a habitant of Arkansas.
