- Abstract
The article examines literary evidence of Roman wedding rituals and presents as case studies the play Roman playwright "Casina" by Plautus and the poetry of Latin poet Catullus. Topics discussed include the depictions of the bride in these works, the concept of manus, which was the legal word used to describe the giving of the bride to her husband, and the concept of confarreatio, which was a form of manus.
