- Abstract
The article presents the transcript of the interview with American television and theatrical director George Schaefer. The interview is focused on his experiences with his early Shakespeare productions that include "G.I. Hamlet," "Macbeth" and "The Taming of the Shrew." Schaefer discusses his collaboration with actor Maurice Evans in producing "G.I. Hamlet" in Hawaii during World War II as well as details how the play came to be staged on Broadway in New York City. He also recounts his experience in filming the play "Macbeth" with Phil Samuels for television.
