- Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the effects of mentoring support designed and implemented for the professional development of teachers on students' academic achievement. This study was carried out using the instructional engineering method and within the scope of the study two academic achievement tests (ABT1 and ABT2)-consisting of open-ended questions- were developed. ABT1 (applied before the mentoring support) and ABT2 (applied after the mentoring support) were developed in accordance with the curriculum and classified according to Bloom's taxonomy. The data obtained from the achievement tests were applied to a total of 34 students (9th grade), analyzed according to level of understanding developed by Abraham et al. (1994) and the analyses were evaluated by comparing on a group and individual basis. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that the mentoring support aimed to the professional development of the teacher positively affected the academic success of the students.
