- Abstract
The aim of the present paper is to reveal whether there is a relation between the knowledge of the primary school students about how it works as a length measurement tool and how they use it. We developed an instrument to collect the data and we conducted this instrument to 46 fourth grade and 47 eight grade students. We used the statistical SPSS 11.01 package program to analyze the collected data, calculate the percentage and the frequency related to each question which is included in the instrument. Additionally, we use chi-square and cross-comparison in order to determine the relation between the knowledge of the primary school students about how work a length measurement tool and how they use and, the comparison of fourth grade student's responses with the eighth grade student's responses each other. The analysis of the data showed that, the majority of participants measured properly the length of the object which was placed left adjust with the ruler while they weren't able to measure its length when the object was not placed left adjusted with the ruler. Finally, the comparison of these two groups with each other shows that there is a significant difference between these two groups with respect to their knowledge about how it works as a length measurement tool and how they use it
