- Title
TWO NOTES ON MAILER.
- Authors
DOCTOROW, E. L.
- Abstract
The article offers information on American novelist Norman Mailer. It says that attraction to criminality drove Mailer to battle social proprieties, mass culture and dishonest wars. According to the article, the masculinity in war-theme writings of Mailer presented the moralist view of Ernest Hemingway. Mailer is described as soft-spoken, courteous and responsible writer who listens and considers advice from an editor. The article also notes that Mailer's "The Armies of the Night," is one of his top ten works.
