Cultural Value Differences, Value Stereotypes, and Diverging Identities in Intergroup Conflicts: The Estonian Example.
- Authors
Dobewall, Henrik; Strack, Micha
- Abstract
The article presents an analysis on the relationship between cultural value differences, value stereotypes and diverging social identities in intergroup conflicts in Estonia. Using data from the European Social Survey on cultural differences and value trends, the authors look into the conflict in the country, which triggered riots in 2007. They note that cultural differences often cause conflicts, while diverse identities contribute to extreme cultural stereotypes.
