- Abstract
The article presents a study which investigated whether the kidney, liver, lung, and heart tissue can be affected by type 1 diabetes in the long term by measuring activities of sulfurtransferase (STS) [rhodanese (TST) and mercaptopyruvate sulfurtransferase (STS) on the organs of rats with induced type 1 diabetes mellitus. The results showed reduced enzyme levels with diabetic rats, the greatest decrease in the kidney tissues, and metabolic damage that may first occur in kidneys.
