- Abstract
The article presents a study which focuses on organizational empowerment program as the unit of analysis and aims to explain how organization structures, program design features and processes lead to organizational empowerment (OE) in the U.S. Information about five case studies funded by the American Legacy Foundation concerning tobacco control youth empowerment programs were given. Researchers assessed the program design features of the youth empowerment programs which contributed to or detracted from processes leading to OE. The programs were compared and contrasted which led to the identification of models and strategies which contributed to the formation of OE. Researchers also analyzed the ecological influences of the state context in relation to OE.
