- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates the patterns used by investment analyst in forecasting long-tern earnings in the U.S. The study was administered to a group of security analysts who conduct and provide long-tern estimates on issuers' operating earnings as well as to the different types of securities that are available, including fixed income offerings of corporations and governments. It also assesses the needs of long-term investors which concentrate on the conciseness of earning estimations. The study reveals that a decline in performance accuracy is visible whenever estimation work increases.
