- Abstract
The article examines the use of a stress process model by the East Side Village Health Worker Partnership (ESVHWP) to extend the knowledge base of social determinants of health in Detroit, Michigan. The ESVHWP, a community-based participatory research initiative which intends to improve the health of the residents, aims to explore the potential of stress process models in determining the relationships between social status, exposure to acute or systemic stressors, access to resources, and health outcomes. In depth-interviews were conducted to investigate the impact of stressors on health.
