- Title
Stem cells: Changing one cell type into another.
- Authors
de Souza, Natalie
- Abstract
The article focuses on the factors that can convert fibroblasts into oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs) in mouse and rat which were identified by the groups of Paul Tesar at Case Western Reserve University and of Marius Wernig at Stanford University. It says that oligodendrocytes have been generated by OPCs which are the main myelinating cells in the central nervous system. It mentions that the groups have combined their knowledge to provide with shortlists of factors candidates for OPC.
