- Abstract
One way to approach the concept that students and teachers have about being a good teacher and the elements to be considered for evaluation, is using the technique of natural semantic networks, which is designed to measure the meaning that subjects give it to an idea or concept. A natural semantic network is a measurement technique that allows reconstructive procedures objectify multiple networks of meaning organized in memory of the subjects, and determine the meaning given to concepts. The aim of this study was to evaluate the potential of semantic networks to explore the meanings that students and teachers give to the elements of teacher evaluation and the concept of good teacher. Participated in the study 19 teachers and 224 students. The core network with ten words defining higher semantic weight were built. The results show that students favor the teaching behaviors related to affective attributes and characteristics, followed by educational skills. While teachers weighted first disciplinary skills and training aspects, followed by behaviors regarding teaching strategies and emotional attributes. The effectiveness of semantic networks as a technique for the study of subjective variables was evident.
