- Title
Biopolymere aus Bakterien schützen technische Textilien: Deutsche Institute für Textil- und Faserforschung Denkendorf (DITF) Denkendorf.
- Abstract
The German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) are researching the development of biopolymers from bacteria for technical textiles. These biopolymers, such as polysaccharides, polyamides, and polyesters, are made from renewable raw materials and are recyclable. Particularly promising are polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), a group of biotechnologically produced polyesters. PHA can be used for coatings on technical textiles and offer water-repellent properties as well as a stable structure. The DITF have already conducted successful research and are now investigating the use of PHA for the production of fibers and nonwovens.
