- Title
Auszeichnung für hanfbasierte Cellulosefasern: INSTITUT: DITF FOKUS: Innovation.
- Abstract
Dr. Antje Ota from the German Institutes for Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) received the Gips-Schüle Special Research Award for her research on the production of cellulose filaments from alternative raw materials. Together with the French start-up RBX Créations, the use of hemp residues for the production of high-quality textile products was investigated. Through a patented eco-friendly process, RBX Créations was able to develop a hemp pulp with high purity and excellent properties. Using an innovative spinning process called HighPerCell, Dr. Ota and her team were able to use the pulp as a raw material for the production of hemp-based cellulose fibers. These fibers show great potential, especially in technical applications. The research method also offers promising social benefits, as the environmentally friendly textile products are made from locally available natural resources and do not compete with food and animal feed production. The Gips-Schüle Foundation, which supports research projects at universities and research institutions in Baden-Württemberg, awarded the prize.
