- Abstract
Mucormycosis is an emerging invasive fungal infection and risk factors include poorly controlled diabetes mellitus, hematologic malignancies, solid organ and stem cell transplantation, and iron overload (especially those receiving deferoxamine). Thus, disseminated mucormycosis should always be included as part of differential diagnosis in patients presenting with rapidly progressive multiple organs lesions, since without appropriate therapy, disseminated infection is always fatal.
