- Abstract
The article discusses the social aspects of what is referred to as the Poutin' House in Grove Hill, Alabama, which is a place where people socialize, discuss politics and drink alcoholic beverages, owned by the late former circuit clerk and Democratic Party member Harvey Jackson. The Poutin' House's attendees, including state and local politicians, are discussed. The relationship between religion and the Poutin' House, including Jackson's creation of the Poutin' House so as to abide by his wife's religious prohibition on drinking alcohol in the home, is discussed.
