- Abstract
This essay discusses April McGreger, proprietor of the Farmer's Daughter food brand sold at the Carrboro, North Carolina Farmers' Market. The author considers McGreger part of a larger food movement in the U.S. towards the use of seasonal vegetables, family-owned farms, and farm-to-table restaurants. The article also discusses ethnic influences on American foods; the locavore movement; and Slow Food International, a non-profit organization dedicated to the maintaining the use of locally available foods in traditional cookery.
