- Abstract
This article deals with observing and analyzing a Mishnah from the Tractate of Mo'ed Katan (1, 3) that deals with Hamshacha (drawing water from tree to tree), watering seeds at the Moed and trying to understand the descent of the wording of the laws in this Mishnah. In the context of the Mishnah analysis, the article compares between the other variety of conditional sources found in the Tosefta and the Beraitot in the Talmud and related to this Mishnah. From the various comparisons and determination of the relationship between the sources, the article tries to establish the chain of laws that deal with the Hamshacha of water to trees, watering seeds and the action of Harbatza in the Moed. The following conclusions were drawn in this article: 1. Initially, there were two ancient versions of the laws that dealt with the act of Harbatza. The first dealt with the laws of Harbatza in the Moed time and the second dealt with the laws of Harbatza on the seventh year (the Shemita year). 2. Later in the next stage, the two types of sources were merged and a third type of source was created, which deals with the comparing the act of Harbatza in the Moed time with the act of Harbatza in the Shemita year. 3. At the third stage, an ancient Mishnah was created that was built based on the formulas of the second stage, but it contained a short and obscure version of the laws that relates solely to the act of watering seeds during the Moed. 4. For this ancient Mishnah a source was created from an explaining source (a kind of Beraita) that contains a quote from the original Mishnah that begins with the word "when they said" and its extension. 5. At the final stage, the text of the Mishnah we have is created (Mishnah of Rabbi), which is built from ta union of the ancient Mishnah with the explanation in the source of the explaining source. In that manner, this article adds and contributes to the study of the relationship between parallel Tannatic sources.
