- Abstract
This article presents a brief overview of the possibilities for the implementation of a competency-based approach in preschool and primary school age. Alternative pedagogical forms are introduced, in which various educational activities can be organized for the formation of knowledge and a number of skills. The competence approach played an important part in the modern educational process primarily for changing the educational paradigm. The aim is to make a qualitative transition from reproductive education to competence learning. The need of the society for socially and technologically educated individuals, showing critical behavior in making decisions and actions for the benefit of the society, requires rethinking the methodology of the learning process. The application of a competency approach presupposes an integrated interdisciplinary interaction; practical orientation of the education; results orientation; application of innovative approaches and practices in the process of teaching and learning. The interdisciplinary approach involves the integration of knowledge, skills and attitudes from one subject area to another in order to solve a particular problem. Thus, organized educational activity facilitates the formation of key competencies and leads to their integrated acquisition. The classroom system is the most popular one in Bulgaria. The structure of the educational activities in preschool age is built on a similar principle. With such an organization, it is difficult to work on building personal qualities. This is one of the reasons to look for alternative options for organizing educational activities. Extracurricular forms of education - clubs, schools, teams, etc. can be mentioned as such. Most of them use project-based training. The competency approach is based on innovative methods and new learning technologies. Most of the applied organizational forms use information technologies, interactive boards and panels, programmable devices. The learning style, the desire to acquire knowledge, the manifestations of creativity in solving a certain problem must start their development from an early age. The example given in the initial acquisition of learning techniques usually shapes the behavior in this direction and remains leading throughout the life of the individual.
