- Abstract
The article discusses the case of a 28-year-old Guatemalan detained in a U.S. detention facility, was exposed to rabies and admitted in a Texas hospital on June 7, 2013. Topics discussed include an investigation at four detention facilities, one medical clinic and two hospitals to identify people exposed to rabies, symptoms that are consistent with a canine rabies virus variant from Central America and cremation recommended for patients who died from rabies.
