- Title
'Employment, Land Values and the Residential Choice of Low-Income Households': Reply.
- Authors
Grimes Jr., Orville F.; Lim, Gill C.
- Abstract
In his comment on the article by the authors, Jon Breslaw proposes a set of regression equations different from our original formulation to explain the location choice of low-income households. His alternative formulation uses census information for Winnipeg, Canada, in an attempt to determine whether our model's explanatory power was primarily affected by shortcomings in the data at the author's disposal. The article first examined the relevance of existing approaches to the residential location behavior of low-income households in developing countries. Attention was given to economic models of residence choice which embody assumptions about trade-offs between housing expenditures and transportation cost.
