- Abstract
The oldest texts, mostly found inside the city, date to the end of the sixth century B.C.E., the most recent ones to the second century B. C. E. There was an epigraphical dip between the fifth and fourth centuries B. C. E. The overwhelming majority of texts date to the Hellenistic period. One wonders whether graffiti on Volterran vases were added in Adria, or already in Volterra (e. g., see no. 20819: I prezna's, i a name known in Etruria but not in the Po valley). One-letter texts (frequently the I i ) and several other texts are not mentioned in I Etruskische Texte i 1-2 ( I ET i ), edited by H. Rix in 1991.
