- Title
Voces de la desesperanza: La desestructuración alimentaria en México (1994-2004).
- Authors
Vega, Blanca Rubio
- Abstract
In this article an attempt is made to demonstrate that the tri-lateral NAFTA free commerce agreement signed between Mexico, the United States and Canada in 1994 has de-structured the productive capacity for basic goods such as cereals as well as the agriculture capacity to generate income which permits the reproduction of agricultural productive units. Because of this there has been greater migration towards the United States and greater rural abandonment, converting agricultural populations into ghost towns.
