- Abstract
The article discusses strategies on how oncology nurses can teach self-advocacy skills and verbalization of preferences and concerns to patients from diagnosis through survivorship. Topics covered include patient barriers to self-advocacy, and the importance of self-advocacy to underrepresented populations. Also noted are skills for patients to practice and steps that oncology nurses can take to promote patient self-advocacy.
