- Title
Natural Resources Conservation Service Programs: Collaboration Brings Results.
- Authors

- Abstract
This article discusses the delay in passing the 2023 farm bill and its potential impact on protecting sources of drinking water. The 2018 farm bill had made source water protection a goal of conservation programs and allocated 10% of spending on conservation programs for this purpose. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has been working to implement the law, and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) has been encouraging utilities to participate in farm bill programs. While there have been challenges, such as cultural and vocabulary differences between the water and agricultural sectors, AWWA is advocating for the next bill to continue and enhance source water protection efforts.
