The article discusses the aspects to consider in maintaining a detectable disinfectant residual in drinking water distribution systems in the U.S. using chloramines as a secondary disinfectant. Topics mentioned include the determination of the value of measuring detectable chloramines, the best management process for water distribution systems maintenance, and the purpose for the disinfectant residual criteria in the Surface Water Treatment Rule.
