This article focuses on charges of false imprisonment facing defendants who were part of a group of protesters who surrounded the car of Joan Burton, the leader of the Labour Party in Ireland in November 2014. It discusses the reason behind the protest, the economic and political processes that have been at the core of the charges, and the building of the movement for nonpayment/boycott of water charges.
