Medical education, social responsibility and praxis: Responding to the needs of all children.
- Authors
Martimianakis, Maria Athina
- Abstract
The author suggests that health care educators must stop perpetuating the idea that health inequalities are inevitable and outside their power to change. She asserts that educators must engage in praxis to be good health advocates, the process by which informed committed action become part of lived experiences and creates social change. She also cites poverty statistics among Canadian children as well as encourages educators to examine links between educational models and health inequalities.
