- Abstract
The present article describes and characterises the periodicals published by the peace movement in Catalonia, one of the most important in the contemporary history of the region. Over more than a century, the movement has produced 81 periodicals. However, these magazines have not yet been studied by the historiography of the Catalan press. The descriptive hemerography technique is used to gather data to characterise the publications, identify thematic focuses and formulate four subtypes of pacifist and antimilitarist press. Thus, up to twelve different topics are detected, demonstrating the remarkable spectrum of issues the peace movement has dealt with over the decades. Subsequently, this diversity is reflected in organs of expression, dissemination magazines, journalistic publications, and fanzines. The study's findings indicate that press publishing has been a sustained activity of the Catalan peace movement and is a complex phenomenon, reflecting the multiplicity of concerns and groups that constitute pacifism and antimilitarism.
