An introduction to articles in the issue is presented on topics including existing studies which apply qualitative comparative analysis (QCA) as technique for revealing causal configurations, combinations of methods in the form of both triangulation and parallelization, and distinctions that are necessary for systematizing the confusing debate on mixed methods.
